Door Transformation with Nicole of Cedar and Rush

We recently collaborated with Nicole Regan, lifestyle expert and blogger,  of CedarandRush.com. Her mudroom was in desperate need of a new door and she knew that Next Door and Window was the best company for the job! We’re excited to share the steps along the way and the fantastic final product that has transformed her room.

Cedar & Rush Interview with NDW

The first steps were to do an interview with our owner, Justin Bartley. Nicole was able to get tons of useful information of when it’s time to update your doors or windows, and what to look for when hiring a company.

She was also able to see the warehouse where a lot of the magic happens! The best part is that she shared that interview and all the behind the scenes photos for her readers on her blog. Click here to read that post.

Here are just a few of the great points Justin Bartley made,

“Most homeowners do not know that there are many different replacement options, some of which may be the wrong solution for their home.”

“Homeowners should thoroughly research wood clad, fiberglass, and vinyl to find the best product for their particular home and application type.”

When choosing a door and window company “Check their rating online with Google reviews, BBB, and Angie’s List. Also, ask for jobs they have done in your neighborhood.”

“Fiberglass has been the biggest trend due to its strength and durability. It’s a great option to withstand the heat and fade that can happen with dark colors.”

“Water leaks should be the number 1 reason you are buying new windows and doors. Water can damage walls and create much more damage to your home.”

Here are some BEFORE photos of Nicole’s mudroom door:

Our Design and Energy expert, Gary, met with Nicole to go over her options and figure out what would work best in her space. He was also able to show her how the final result would look thanks to our visualizer tool.

With this tool, our experts can take a picture of your home and allow you to build any new door design with different styles, glass, or color options. That way you can see exactly how each door looks on your home before you buy it!

After the decisions were made and the measurements were taken, all was scheduled for installation with our expert installers. As you can see by the photo above, our installers always make sure to keep your space as clean as possible during the job.

Final Result with Cedar & Rush

To say that the choice Nicole (and Gary) made was perfect is an understatement. The new door truly transformed her mudroom! It opened up the room, brightened up the house, enhanced the colors of the furnishings, and is now saving her tons of money every year thanks to the energy efficiency offered with our doors.

Here are some AFTER photos:

We enjoyed working with Nicole of Cedar and Rush! And are excited that she loved the final result as much as we did.

From there, we can figure out the time that would work best for you so that one of our Design Experts can visit your home and go over your options.

You can also discuss your options in our store if that is what you prefer. We have locations in Burr Ridge, Naperville, and Arlington Heights, Illinois. Please check our site for hours HERE.

Free Consultation

For this no-hassle, free appointment, one of our qualified Design Experts will go to your home at a reserved time and discuss your options and answer any questions. Our Design Expert will assess your project and offer selections that fit your style and budget.

Another perk of the consultation is that they can show you the design you’re imagining with our Home Visualizer tool that allows you to try on styles before buying. So no need to fret on how it’ll all look in the end.

Many of the lines we carry come in both standard and custom sizes; the Design Expert will evaluate the very best size for your home needs. Once everything has been chosen, properly measured, and prepared, your new doors or windows will be ready to install anywhere between 6 to 12 weeks. It all depends on the time of year and the product purchased. The Design Expert will have the best estimate for you.

Installation Day

In window or door replacement, there’s one golden rule: new windows or doors are only as good as their installers. Even the highest-quality products will require an expert hand to make sure they deliver the superior protection and lasting performance that your home needs.

All of our installers are licensed, bonded, and insured in your city. Our team is also trained by Installation Masters—a training and certification program of the U.S. Department of Energy. Also, we’re licensed by the EPA to handle window replacements where lead may be present.

On the day of the scheduled installation, our brand-trained and certified installers will come to your home with everything they need. You won’t have to worry about a thing! We will even pull whatever permits may be needed (if required). All of our products are installed “complete”. By that, we mean there won’t need to be any staining or painting going on during installation, which keeps your home even cleaner.

The installers will also use drop cloths and runners to protect the floors. You may want to cover furniture with bed sheets for dust protection.

They will make sure to use your driveway or garage for all saw work. And they will even sweep upon completion! Dust is truly kept to a minimum on the inside of your home.

The installers will remove any old product and job-related debris from your home, and vacuum or sweep any mess created. We know how frustrating remodels are, so we set out to make this process as stress-free as possible.

Post Installation Care

Next Door and Window doesn’t just install and forget. In addition to the lifetime coverage that comes with most of our products, we provide our own five-year labor warranty to protect you against any workmanship-related defects for a long period.

Each manufacturer also offers its own product warranties. Our Design Experts can answer any warranty questions you may have about the brands you choose.

We currently have a full installation and service team in the field, so you can talk to a door and window professional immediately if your new product needs service. If the issue is bigger and someone needs to do a house call, we will schedule a convenient time with one of our service professionals.

We’re here to answer any other questions you may have about the process. Please don’t hesitate to reach out. If you’d like to get started with your window or door remodeling process, you can schedule your appointment HERE.

Your Guide to Decorative Door Glass

Love the look of a front door with decorative glass but have some concerns? We’re here to answer some of your top questions. There’s no denying that decorative glass can enhance the look of your entryway, but make sure you choose quality brands and materials. Some of the main things to consider when choosing a decorative door glass are as follows:

  • Privacy
  • Safety
  • Sunlight
  • Curb appeal

FRONT DOOR PRIVACY

Privacy can be a huge concern when it comes to decorative glass. However, every style of glass comes with a privacy rating of 1-10, with 10 being the most private glass available. Plus, you can even choose a layered glass that will provide plenty of privacy. When choosing a front door and glass, it’s important to consider your home and surrounding area in order to pick the best products for your property.

Do you have a large front yard full of trees? Then going with a larger glass that has a lower privacy rating might be a good choice. Is your home close to the main road? Then you’ll probably want to go with less glass and/or a higher privacy rating.

We’ll help you create a door that’s custom to your style and everyday life with quality materials you can trust. Our Design and Energy experts can also help you visualize this final look with our Home Visualizer tool that allows you to try on styles before buying. You can also visit one of our showrooms to see which glass is best for your needs.

FRONT DOOR SAFETY

Is a front door with decorative glass safe? This is a common question and a top concern for homeowners. It will ease your mind to know that the glass used for front doors are tempered which means the material is stronger and harder to break.

Plus, considering our homes are filled with glass windows and (possibly) patio doors, choosing decorative glass for your front door wouldn’t make your home any less safe.

Just make sure you’re choosing quality products from good brands. We source our doors from trusted, name-brand manufacturers like ProVia, Albany Door, Infinity by Marvin, among others.

FRONT DOOR SUNLIGHT

Would you love to have sunlight streaming in through your front door? People are usually concerned about safety, but sunlight can either be an issue or a “must have”. So that’s another thing to consider if you love decorative glass. Are you looking to increase or decrease the light that flows in?

Some choose to go full-glass when it comes to their front door and there are many benefits to that. Sunlight can be uplifting and energizing. Plus, the glass can open up your space and (possibly) offer a gorgeous view. Read here to learn more about the benefits of light in your home.

However, if you have certain sensitivities or concerns with the amount of light that comes in then maybe go smaller with the glass and higher with the privacy rating. This will allow the decorative glass to block out more sun but still provide the style that you’re after.

FRONT DOOR CURB APPEAL

A front door is more than just a point of entry, it can help boost curb appeal, transform the facade, and increase the value of your home. Choosing a front door with decorative glass will tick all of those benefit boxes! Adding in a hand-stained design or artistic pattern can further enhance the look of your entryway. It’s a great way to make an impact without the cost of an extensive renovation.

We know that the front door can often get overlooked, but it’s what greets your guests and gives the first impression of your home so how about we make it a good one? Plus, if the decorative glass has always been on your wish list then we hope this post has helped address some of your concerns.

Our Design and Energy experts are happy to answer any more questions about decorative glass. We’re here to inspire you and your home in this new season! We’d love to make your vision come to life. As always, NEXT Door & Window offers no hassle-no pressure appointments so schedule yours today
